The crop of gold, silver and bronze collected by India at the commonwealth

games in Manchester is a big boost to the deflated egos of us Indians who

have been suffering from shame inspite of being a country of a billion

plus with unlimited talents. Ofcourse, the cap of the blame fits squarely

on the heads of our shallow politicians who have been endlessly meddling in

the sports affairs. ( GCA included) Not to be left out of the euphoria of

India being the 3rd country to lead in Manchester (today it is the 4th) , I

elbowed my daughter from her regularTV serial, to watch the medal

distribution ceremony for the girls' event of weight lifting. It was indeed

a pleasure to watch our tough prety belles Pratima Kumari and Prasmita

Mangaraj raring to put out their necks to be adorned with gold and silver

respectively. The bronze went as usual with a necking of the medal, a

square peck on the cheek by the official and a round of clap! Clap!. I

shifted a little closer to the TV for it was the turn of our very own sweet

Prasmita Mangaraj to stick out her tough neck and be pecked on the chubby

cheek. The moment came, the silver was necked and the customary peck was

delivered. To my horror, Prasmita literally wiped off peck from her right

cheek so vigorously that her face was one as if she had been offered a dead

rat full of vermin. Thank God she did not vomit. The clap clap died down

instantly and the official retreated without knowing what had happened.

Tensed was I to see Pratima get her gold. But to my relief, she took the

peck like a lady. The official corrected his style and left the Indian

ladies with only a hand shake there after, but continued with his customary

peck with other athletes. It is a well known fact that we Indians do not

like to be kissed or hugged or mooched publicly. But our amorous activities

off the public eye has a billion plus to show. The officials of the Indian

delegation had the moral obligation to prepare the squad for the protocol.

It may be gold, it may be silver or bronze. But as far as I am concerned,

they mean nothing if one does not receive them with grace. The head of the

Indian delegation for the Commonwealth Games should hang his/her head in

shame for humbling the nation in front of the watchful eye of the whole

world.

And reference to the letter to CM by Components of Comunidade requesting for

the head of the incompetent administrator of Central Zone. As far as the

administrators of Comunidades is concerned, the posts are gifts to useless

people who the government wants to discard as unwanted rags. These posts

gives them the means of renovating their flats and houses, buy new cars and

wardrobes, give Comunidade plots to their kin and friends, and load the

offices with brothers, sisters sons and daughters. All these activities

leaves them no time to read and understand the Code of Comunidades. For that

matter, the people who talk big, like our Chief Minister, who readily agrees

with a Comunidade ignoramus like Dayanand Narvekar, and who has indulged in

illegal amendments to the Code based on its spurious and illegal translation

from Portuguese to English, do not know what the Comunidade is all about.

They only look at who the share holders are, and their guts turn in their

stomachs. Know Ye all ignoramuses, who want to take control of Goa's

Comunidades that the Portuguese, unlike the British in British India,

recognized the power of

these institutions and helped to preserve them., while the Comunidades of

the rest of India were killed by the British in their infinite superior ego

and later by the ineffective Panchayat Raj systems. The Comunidades of Goa

must enjoy the semi-autonomous status that it once enjoyed with the

government as only a titular head. There is scope for broadening the Code

with respect to the share holding and inclusion of women , but that has to

be in consonance with the sentiments of the constitution of the Comunidades

themselves.

And the best place to build a cricket stadium is the farm at Duler belonging

to the now enterprising MLA from Aldona. It will not only be a stone's throw

away from his own bedroom, it will also cut costs in land acquisition. It is

rather small to accommodate a ODI type of a stadium, but then, Goa does

not need a huge Cricket Stadium considering that not many goans will not

want to venture anymore for any cricket matches after they have been fleeced

with fake tickets, lathi charged and humiliated. Mickky Pacheco, the

honourable Sports Minister must understand that the good Aldona MLA needs a

cricket stadium badly to inflate his deflated ego.

Cheers

Floriano
